Password for bin/configure

I am confused. Is there no longer a password requirement for running bin/configure?

In the past, when I first saved a new configuration, I was asked to create a password. That didn't happen with 2.0.1.

I did find the section for an "Admin Login" password, but that's apparently deprecated.. with no good explanation of what replaces it.

Help?
