Registration problem after several successful ones

I have been using a Foswiki installation with the previous success I had on other intents. Now after registering about 20 users, the 21th one could not be registered. The error message is as follows: "Error registering user UserNameX. There has been a problem adding your user id to the Password system."

Any idea how to fix it?

FYI is the template registration method the one I am using.

This might depend on your configuration settings: there might already exist a user with the same WikiName or LoginName (if separate login names are enabled) or the same email address. Another cause of the problem could be wrong file permissions on the <foswiki-dir>/data./htpasswd file in a way that the foswiki system cannot write to it anymore.
