Error in /bin/configure after installing BlogPlugin

I've just installed BlogPlugin, and found I'm now getting an unspecified error in /bin/configure. It shows the error symbol next to the "Extensions" navigation and "Extension operation and maintenance" tab, but there's no other indication on the page. I've disabled BlogPlugin, and the error doesn't go away.

I've checked System/InstalledPlugins and System/PerlDependencyReport and there's nothing new/unresolved/related to BlogPlugin.

Any suggestions or other error logs that might show what /bin/configure is complaining about?

PS I've also installed BlogPlugin into another 2.1.8 install, and it does the same thing. The blog appears to work fully too.

It would appear the error is being caused by Solr not being installed. The only hint, is a css tag on the bin/configure page: "tab errorsi-Plugins--SolrPlugin--Module- errors"

I made the assumption based on docs that Solr is optional, but appears not to be?
