When I created the Foswiki version I decided to remove the support for the %REV[something]% syntax.

The old explanation was that it was needed in meta data. The only meta data I can think of in normal use is content in form felds and in Cairo, TWiki4 and Foswiki this was never an issue. The date of the feature fits with Beijing. So I think it is safe to remove this.

The gain is that the plugin can be implemented with registerTagsHandler which is faster and makes the REV macro work like built-in macros.

As I ported the plugin I decided to add support for linking to attachments.
