It's Xmas time! Write down your wishes and they might come true
Please group contents in areas like "edit screen", forms, installation, etc. otherwise its too hard to get ideas of what is wanted...
- skins:
- skin with no fix width of page, should be adaptable to all screen sizes -> updated (NatSkin) now supports this, i.e. available on NextWiki
- side bar on the left (or rigth, configurable), resizeable side bar
- automatically adapting skin to small/large screens
- default skin that supports high contrast needs of the low vision old folks amoung us o-*
- common css classes and id's that start in the default skin and go throughout all the main skins (in importing the bluenote css into WidgetsSkin, mostly i just had to do s/natSomething/twikiSlightlyDifferent/g - SvenDowideit
- a defaultjs skin that all other skins can over-ride to add js to all skins (SKIN=defult, defulatjs, nat)
- a jump box
- a single jump and search box either with Go and Search buttons or a pull down menu with options that switches the underlying form between {Jump, local search and global search} (i.e. 3 forms sharing the same space and css display toggled by js which also copies the input field value across).
- 'tidy, ordered' default skin templates so it's easier to find the latest TMPL:DEF that is valid that you want to override in a new overlayed skin
- a button to revert to the currently viewed old version on the view screen
- Side bar not scrolling with text. 2 containers make it also easier for caching the pages but not the sidebar
- edit
- possibility to attach files/pictures in edit mode (not sure if this is a skin issue)
- save and continue button -> now available on NextWiki
- remember decision if WYSIWYG is deactivated
- shortcuts for edit, save and save and continue
- resizeable fields for form in edit mode, that dynamically adapts to page size/width and hight can be adjusted
- the ability to revert to a previous version using a button on the comparison screen rather than having to copy and paste content
- Ajax Preview on the edit page - no need to load up a new page to check progress and then browse back to continue editing
- NatEditPlugin - when working in bulleted lists, the next new line should automatically get a bullet point when you hit RETURN
- sectional editing supported in the core
- in the WYSIWYG mode: copy/paste an image from another program
- Refactoring support
- Dealing with multiple attachments in a group for move, delete. E.g. I just had to move, one at a time, 27 attachments from a too-large topic to an overflow topic. I really wished for the ability to check a box next to each one and then say "move to" once. (Note some topics wanted to remain.) See V1.1 of the ThumbnailPlugin for a command line utility with much of the desired functionality.
- Similarly, it would be useful to be able to seach for a subset of topics, then have a check-select from the resulting list and be able to change parent, move to another web, or delete.
- Global search and replace across topics: E.g. add a new parameter to a common %INCLUDE% call - not for the default value, but so users can see where to change it.
- forms
- user defined meta data that can be searched and listed with queries (like formfield())
- possibility to add 2 forms (top form and bottom form) to one page
- forms with several fields in one row
- MoreAttractiveForm
- extensions
- more flexible tables (add cells, rows, columns at any place)
- a powerful drawing plugin
- redirect display like Wikipedia (redirected from FooBar?noredirect=on)
- I did this using TWiki:Plugins.RedirectPlugin and posted a patch on the Dev page. Keep forgetting to upload the changes to twiki.org, but when I do I can also upload here (when ready) - AndrewJones
- history that displays correct versions of drawings, drawing diff
- for admins:
- logfile view from webbrowser, i.e. view logileXY page (complete or last n lines)
- load monitor, ressource monitor: top, df, ps, ...
- much better installation and upgrade routines (thinking of gallery2 as example although this may never fit for this Wiki which is perl based while gallery2 is php)
- Easy way to add function buttons from contribs - E.G. the biggest pain in installing GenPDF is figuring out how to add a PDF button next to Edit and Attach. It would be useful if this just installed - or there were one file with simple, obvious syntax to drop it into.
- long vision: could there be any idea or possibility to enable installation on systems without shell access (e.g. just transfer everything via FTP and get the rights correctly set; e.g. gallery2 preinstaller)?
- in configure script: Clone the Find More Extension button for the Plugins section as Find More Plugins for easier installation of plugins.
- preference settings
- a control panel UI that replaces having to manually edit the SET settings:
- WebPermissionsPlugin becomes a default plugin with the web settings screen given the same functionality as the topic settings screen
- ALLOWTOPICVIEW etc remains in the background but the user sees the following options: Open (public read/write), Members Only (public read only), Private (listed but not viewable), Secret (not even listed). Yes, these are the options in ClearSpace.
