Abstract:

I've been using TWiki and now foswiki since at least as far back as 2003. At the time, I was managing a national and international organization called MFPA, the multifunction products association, which focused on printer, scanner, fax, copier solutions. The wiki tool proved to be excellent for collaboration and bringing discussions to a conclusion.

Currently, I maintain a number of installations, the largest of which is at http://www.copswiki.org, a site the focuses on citizen journalism and conducts a number of projects that involve community organizing. Our most significant project was the ousting of Blackwater (now "Xe") from the small town of Potrero (they wanted to build a massive 824-acre training facility) and most recently, the cancellation of their contract with Southwestern College.

I use foswiki primarily on public sites, and on "standard issue" VPS servers. My primary development interest is to further optimize foswiki to be more efficient and to improve the comment facility so it can be more easily used by guest users and tightly couple with email so people will more likely contribute.

Development Ideas and Status

In this section, I will keep track of the status of corrections or enhancements.

References Description Status
Admin tool to correct dates of all topics.
Moving data to a new server may result in the system dates getting screwed up. This tool inspects the internal date and corrects the system date for all topics
Simple version written, not submitted.
PublishWebPlugin fixed up so it will be able to publish static sites and landing pages. Mostly bug fixes but includes some enhancements. Fixed and tested, not submitted.
UpdateAttachmentsPlugin modified to allow update plugins of a single topic if WebHome is not spec'd Done, tested, not submitted.

I hope to remember all the other modifications I've made and add them to this list so I can get these submitted so they can be used by the community.

I have established the test site http://www.pubwik.org to test the comment facility.
