Where is the preview mode when editing
Editing in Foswiki is dependent a number of factors including installed plugins, skins, and user's browser. This
FAQ assumes the default Foswiki installation.
- Wysiwyg plugin installed and enabled
- TinyMCE editor installed and enabled.
- Default Pattern Skin
There are two Editors
- Raw Editor
- User clicks the "Raw Edit" link from the bottom bar of the view window, and edits the Topic Markup directly
- Wysiwyg Editor
- User clicks "Edit" button or Edit link from the topic view. This editor also has an option to edit the Topic Markup, but this is not the same as the raw editor.

Raw Edit
Raw edit is entered by clicking the "Raw Edit" link from the bottom bar of the topic. In this mode, preview should be available from ALL browsers.
Default Edit (WYSIWYG)
From the default edit, regardless of browser, the preview mode is disabled. There was a
data loss issue discovered on some browsers when the "Back" button was used from preview mode. Because of this, preview has been disabled from the WYSIWYG editor.
Wiki Text (Edit Foswiki Markup)
From the WYSIWYG editor, it is possible to enter a "raw-like" mode by clicking the "WIKI TEXT" button on the editor toolbar. (Previously known as the pick-axe mode). In this mode, preview is still disabled. The Wysiwyg editor still established the environment, disabling preview.
Plans for improvements
At this a point preview mode that avoids any possibility of data loss is still being discussed. One option under discussion is a pop-up preview window, but nothing has been decided yet.
