Customizing Foswiki

I have some problems understandig how to customize foswiki.

Example: UserForm

the system tells me to make a copy to the USERWEB (which is Main!), and I can do it automatically.

OK

Then I want to make my modifications. So, which UserForm is taken ?

As far as I can see, it is still the SYSTEMWEB/UserForm !

But modifications should be made in USERWEB/UserForm and my FosWiki should this formular, or ?

I also made a copy (automatic) of the NewUserTemplate to the USERWEB.

When a new user runs Register the SYSTEMWEB/NewUserTemplate is used ?

I am a little confused in understanding the concept.

...and, what happens during upgrade ?

being a beginner in Foswiki is pretty hard
