Validation of the email address during a user registration

Hi,

I am currently in the need of some functionality which I don't know to create.

The problem is, that I want to check the ".htpasswd" wether someuser already exists and has a valid ".htpasswd" entry. This shall prevent users to simply create a new account instead of just reset their password, when they got lost.

Is there anyway to create such a validation for Foswiki?

Currently no. I've created a Feature Request Development.AddOptionalRegistrationEmailValidation. This would probably be relatively simple to implement. This is a somewhat surprising behavior, but the ability to register multiple users with the same email address is frequently used, especially during testing.
