This question about Using an extension: Needs followup in Tasks

Task manager installation does not show up as installed on the list.

Hello Foswiki Gurus! I have installed Foswiki and successfully running it currently I THINK. My next task ironically is to install and get the taskmanager plugin going. There are 2 problems that I see with this plugin when I try to install it and get it running:

1) I could see the plugin on the list and install it, it seems to successfully install as all the dependencies are good. But after installation when I go to the extention list again, it does not come up as an installed plugin. ie it does not have the option to uninstall / upgrade like the other plugins already installed. It only comes with the tick to install again at the bottom of the list.

2) I have done the initial configurations for the TMSWEBNAME and whatnot at the right place (i am pretty sure). Created the group, and TMS does show up as a web on the main webleftbar. But when I click on it I get the following errors:
  • Warning: Can't find topic WebLeftBarExample
  • Warning: Can't find topic %TMSWEBNAME%.TaskList
One being the left bar error and one on the main page of the web. I am wondering how to created these 2. Thought there would be some default configuration thats there like the screenshots.

Thanks for your help!

I can handle your first question.

It has a packaging error. The Contrib does not contain a module lib/Foswiki/Contrib/TaskManagementContrib.pm that configure would use to determine the status of the installed extension.

Thanks George! I guess that explains why it actually still shows up as a Web. But the other errors are just worried, confused

Quick question I think the first error is actually the fact that there doesnt seem to be a left bar for the web. Is there a way to edit the left bar for the webs you have? I know that its possible to edit the WebLeftBarExample which kind of takes care of the main webs left bar...but not for a specific web.

You can just create the WebLeftBar topic in the web that you want. The _default template web used when creating new webs has a default WebLeftBar, Since the TaskManagementContrib doesn't provide a WebLeftBar in the TMS web, you can create your own by using the More topic actions button on an existing WebLeftBar, and the Copy action to copy it to TMS.WebLeftBar The target of the copy can either be a different topic name, or the same or different name in a different web.
