I cannot save a new topic

I installed a new Foswiki, created a new User and a new Group.

I was able to create an new topic TestTopic unter WebHome, but after editing the new topic, I cannot save the new topic.

And it doesn't matter if I try this as the new User or as admin.

Can anyboy help me ?

Does configure report any errors? Are their any errors when you try to save the topic reported in the Apache log? Any errors reported to the browser?

Firts, to make it more clear, I cannot save a new topic, because the save button is grey and inactive, nothing happens when I click it. The cancel button is still active. I have 1 foswiki configuration error: HTML::Tree Error: Not installed. for CompareRevisionsAddOn I have 1 warning: {ScriptDir} Warning: log201301.txt appears to have a suffix (.txt), no script suffix is configured - please check it I have, since the reinstallation (uninstalled all Foswiki-related pragrams and registry-clean) of Foswiki no Errors in the Apache2-error-report.

I forgot to say, there are no errors reported in the browser. But there can't be an error in the browser as long I cannot click the save button.

Second, I forgot to say, that my wiki-pc is a virtual maschine on a VMWare server und I use it via a Microsoft rdp connection. I'm logged in as a local administrator on the wiki-pc.

Now, I tried to access via Browser and IP. Here I got the brwser error: Access Denied Attention Access check on Main failed. Action "redirect": unsafe redirect to http://192.9.201.202/foswiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome: host does not match {DefaultUrlHost} , and is not in {PermittedRedirectHostUrls}"http://WIKI-PC".

What browser are you using? The save button in the edit screen is probably enabled with javascript, but I'm not sure.

Are you ending up in the TinyMCE "WYSIWYG" editor, or the raw "wiki text" editor.
Is there any difference between the two, or are you unable to save in either editor.

Check your Browser's javascript console for javascript errors.

I've not heard of anything like this before - greyed out save button.

I killed the whole virtual PC und build up a completely new Windows 7 maschine with all updates. Then I installed foswiki again. Now I can save new topics, when I work with a RDP-Connection directly on the Foswiki-PC. But now I cannot save topics when I use a browser on a another PC in the same domain.

Do you have javascript blocking enabled? or if you are using IE, is the server in your trusted zone?

I get crazy. I made a standard Foswiki Installation on a new win 7 machine and I didn't change any settings in Foswiki, Apache or any other Fowiki-related Software. I only created two Users. I can create and save topics on the Wiki-Computer as admin and as normal user. But as soon as I want to save topics in a browser of another Computer (for example my pc has 192.168.0.9 and i call http://192.168.0.33/foswiki) in the same Intranet and Domain I cannot save the topic. The save button looks different, very simelar to grayed out button. I am only able to click the cancel button and then i get the message Attention - Access check on Main failed. Action "redirect": unsafe redirect to http://192.9.201.202/foswiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome: host does not match {DefaultUrlHost} , and is not in {PermittedRedirectHostUrls}"http://VM-WIKI". Do I have to change any settings in Apache, or whatever can I do to get write access for new topics.

Now I tried to save topics from annother PC in the Domain using chrome as the browser. Here the save button doesn't chnge the appereance and you can click it. But the message stay's the same: Access check on Main failed. That last error is telling you exactly what is wrong. You've configured Foswiki to use a hostname, "VM-WIKI" but are accessing it by IP Address. That's a security feature. You need to use bin/configure to add http://192.9.201.202" to the PermittedRedirectHostUrls.

Click the little [i] to the right of the configuration parameter in bin/configure and there is some help text that describes how that setting works.

Thank you very much, now it iworks with Chrome. In the Microsoft IE the save button is still gray and inactive. Maybe someone can knows the reason, otherwise we will use chrome for accessing Foswiki in our intranet.

Which version of IE? IE is indeed a supported browser, but maybe you are encountering a new bug.

IE doesn't been called by the IP, it works called by the hostname. Probably a setup problem in the IE. But so I call Foswiki by hostnamde and my problem is solved. Alltogether, we already started to create a lot of Topics. Thanks fp helping me.
