Remove specific character from a string (like unix sed)

Is it possible to remove a few characters from a string?

We use Foswiki as a document management software. All our changelog topics are named in this syntax: ChL_DEVNAME.

ChL means ChangeLog, DEVNAME is the device name. In %TOPIC% is now "ChL_DEVNAME". Is it possible, to cut of the "ChL_" and write the rest in another variable, e.g. %DEVNAME%
