Account locked

I have taken over the admin for the following community page: https://wiki.ashfieldlittlebigband.com/cgi-bin/view/ALBB/WebHome

Emails for change of password should go to webmaster@ashfieldlittlebigband.com

After changing the password nothing has been received and our only admin account GeorgMandel is now locked out.

Please can someone reset the password for the account GeorgMandel ?

We need to change to a new username as Georg is no longer involved with the organisation.

Hi Ian, It sounds like you have several things going on so let me try to sort those out.

First of all, the Foswiki site you referenced in not directly connected to Foswiki.org in any way except that it runs on the Foswiki software package. Foswiki.org is were development of the Foswiki platform is managed. The admins of this site do not have any way to reset user passwords or otherwise administer your site.

Next, in regards to emails not being received after a password reset is done suggest either 1) the email was sent to the address for GeorgMandel and no one with the organization is monitoring that email account or 2) outgoing emails are not working. To check the out-going email settings, you will need to login as an administrator (member of AdminGroup).

I understand that this presents you with somewhat of a catch-22. The only solution I can think of off hand is for someone to access the server on a file level and directly edit the Main.AdminGroup topic file and replace Georg or add someone else to the group. That person should then be able to log into the site and access the configure page where email settings are managed. You won't be actually changing the username for Georg. Rather you'll be adding a different user to the administration group.

I recognize that all of this requires as least a basic understanding of server and Foswiki administration but I can not think of another way to solve your situation.

I took a look at the AdminGroup of your site and it shows that CallumGibson is also a member. Are you in tourch with that person? They would be able to access Foswiki configuration to change the email and administrator settings. I also see that the administrator email for the site is set to webmaster@ashfieldlittlebigband.com. Is anyone monitoring that account?

One last thing I'll mention is that Foswiki has an option for setting a general admin password that would allow any user with that password to access and change Foswiki configuration. Does anyone know what that would be? There are links to more information about managing AdminGroup and the special admin password on your site's Main.AdminGroup page.
