Cannot make GETVAR working with PREFERENCES

I cannot get GETVAR working. I have topic FirmaTest with content:

   * Set MYVAR = Some text

When I type in another topic:

MYVAR is %GETVAR{"MYVAR" topic="FirmaTest" web="%WEB%" type="PREFERENCE"}%

nothing happens. If I use default parameter - then I get it's value.
