How to turn on NODUPS by default?

I have Set CONTRIBUTORSPLUGIN_NODUPS = on in my SitePreferences, on the assumption that this should turn on the nodups by default.

This doesn't seem to work, however.

Is it me? Is it a bug? Or should I turn this into a feature request?

Sven advised me that the way to do this is to make a new version of view.contributorsplugin.tmpl that sets nodups on. That's what I did, and it works fine.
