This question about Upgrading from TWiki to Foswiki: Answered
How do I convert from TWiki to Foswiki?
Hi, i'm looking to move/upgrade our Twiki version 4.1.2, running on Sun Solaris server, to Foswiki, running on a
RedHat 5.5 Linux Virtual Machine. Apologies for the vagueness of the question but this will be totally new to me so any pointers will be much appreciated. I'm hoping to copy all our existing content across so any heads-up on issues likely to arise would also be appreciated. Any special CPU or memory requirements?
Have you looked at the
UpgradeGuide? (Linked version for 1.0.x) It is shipped with Foswiki, so if you install a Test setup of Foswiki 1.1.2, the latest will be there in your System folder. Or if you have an account of Foswik.org, you can view
http://trunk.foswiki.org/System/UpgradeGuide
Read the upgrade guide very carefully. Don't just grab the quick summary and run. There is critical information down in the details.
Foswiki can read/write TWiki content quite readily. No special CPU requirements. TWiki plugins will work if the
TWikiCompatibitilyPlugin is enabled, but we recommend moving to the Foswiki versions if at all practical, and use backwards compatibility for the few extensions that have not been ported, or for locally developed extensions.
