I presume there is a way to contemplate a mapping between fancy-pants lettering and simple-simon ones (in both directions) so that links dwim?

I think that this topic is requesting we somehow magically map "ue" to "ü", I think that would need a feature proposal. Changed to "NeedsProposal". They both link on trunk because both topics exist in Main.

No, I remember the conversation. The "ue" fallback was just a that - a fallback. Because we handle unicode correctly, it's not required (or even desireable).
