There is a cache in the session object _ffCache for Foswiki::Meta objects. It is only used by FORMFIELD. It prevents access to the data when it changed during a save operation. Its performance benefits have nowhere been proven.

(The only global cache for Foswiki::Meta objects should be Foswiki::MetacCache. Alas Foswiki::MetaCache is only used by SEARCH atm. But that's another story ...)
