You mean, i.e.
http://develop.twiki.org/~develop/cgi-bin/view/Bugs/Item1672?cover=print.pattern should print long URLs without the .'s? Doesn't look that way (ff here).
Anyway, it should be shipped with default off to maintain backward compatibility.
