After that the TimelinPlugin isn't listed anymore as installed when recalling FindMoreExtensions from configure. So manual installation appears to be the way out.

Indeed, installing the plugin manually solves the installation issue. However, I am leaving the bug open because installation from configure still doesn't work.

Ok, going to close because after one time manual installation the configure dialog under "Find More Extensions" was fixed and the Plugin could be re-installed from configure without issues.
