TWiki/TextFormattingRules#External_Links doesn't mention the usage of
$TWiki::cfg{LinkProtocolPattern} . which by default is set to '(file|ftp|gopher|https|http|irc|mailto|news|nntp|telnet)'
Should update at least this paragraph... ItemTemplate edit
