Item9782: Web Notify Not Working

Windows / Apache system. WebNotify does not work. mailnotify.pl is in /bin directory and when executed seems to run ok. But no mail is sent. Using the Mercury Mail on the same server which works fine for other emails. Mail is set to use 127.0.0.1 in the configuration. Any ideas?

There is a bug - the shell scripts run under the wrong userid. You can resolve this either by adding a parameter to the mailnotify run -user AdminUser or apply the patch shown in distro:4c413c74df53. This issue also effects the statistics scripts; see Item9646. MailerContrib has been updated (and uploaded) with improved documentation to work around this bug.

I installed the change per distro:4c413c74df53 and it is still not working. Note, I am using Apache authentication, not the normal Foswiki login. Could this be a factor?

I don't believe that Apache auth will have an effect.

• Do user registration emails get sent? mailercontrib uses the same email settings.
• If you run mailnotify from the shell, without the -q quiet option, does it find topics to send mails about?

A normal run for Sandbox would look something like:

../tools/mailnotify Sandbox
Processing Sandbox
   * %USERSWEB%.JoeUser: *

        Change to TestTopic0 at 2010-11-14T05:15:13Z. New revision is 1
