Be friendly and welcoming. If you aren't able to help at the moment, just don't reply. Don't say things like "come on, RTFM", or "you are asking stupid questions -- it's all in the docs".

Be courteous to others. Be aware that the conversation on the Foswiki IRC channels are preserved in logs, thus your audience is the Internet at large, not just those who are logged in at the moment. If you aren't comfortable with everyone seeing a given message, then don't post it, even if you are comfortable with the currently logged in users reading your response.

Regarding questions about TWiki(tm) and not Foswiki

TWiki users did not lock us out! They did not force us to fork. Don`t let them feel what you think towards any organizations or other persons you dislike. Just help them because we do this for free, to help others, and to feel good about it!

Volunteering in the #twiki channel

In order to assist existing TWiki users in finding answers to their questions, the Foswiki community has designated a small team (2-3 people) to provide pointers to #foswiki. Note most of the community does not have to log into #twiki and make it more crowded than it needs to be. To volunteer to assist in guiding users on #twiki, add your name to the following list.

Posting Guidelines

Please follow these rules when posting to #twiki:

• Do not advertise. So no random "#foswiki - we are the better twiki"
• Do not bait TWiki users in #twiki. Let the people who like the project stay with it: don't be aggressive and try to convert them. Let them decide.
• You can direct people to #foswiki if they state questions in #twiki and nobody answers for over 5 minutes. Your message should be neutral in tone. For example:

There are also a lot of TWiki experts present on the #foswiki channel (type "/join #foswiki").
